FUTURE RESOURCES has designed high-end solutions for small and medium size railway organizations to improve their performances.

To automate the capture of information as much as possible and detect derailment early, FUTURE RESOURCES developed ATRAC, giving both driving crew and traffic dispatching real time train information.

Ideal for monitoring the movement of assets outside direct operational control zones, W-SPOT is an ultra-light tracking system based on satellite positioning.
It offers real-time position and movement information for both wagons and valuable cargo.

ATRAC:
Rolling Stock Tag System

ATRAC is a rolling stock mounted tag-based system providing both driving crew and traffic dispatching with real time train information. ATRAC broadly features an all-vehicle tag system, driver’s DMI screen and central-control-to-driver messaging system.

Combined with RailTracker, ATRAC is a complete fleet management system. With the help of automated data capture (e.g. train composition), it offers additional comprehensive reporting facilities supported by a solid SQL database model of railway activities.

  • Provides automatic train composition and permanent train integrity check.
  • Early derailment detection with real-time alarm.

Prevention, innovation, savings. Innovative and easy to use

ATRAC provides early derailment detection and real time alarms for both drivers and traffic control. Each vehicle is equipped with a multifunctional RFID tag (Dynamic tag). Wireless communications between the tagged vehicles of a train are managed by a Master tag mounted on the locomotive.

  • Automatic train composition.
  • Permanent train integrity check.
  • End Of Train clearance.
  • Early derailment detection with real-time alarm.
  • On-wagon payload information.
  • Hot box detection *.
  • Real time dynamic wagon weighing *.
  • Centralized event-driven information management.
  • On-board and central “black-box” functionality.
* Under development
  • A multifunctional RFID tag mounted on each wagon (dynamic tag).
  • A master tag mounted on the locomotive controlling data communications with wagon tags.
  • A radio-based communication protocol along the train.
  • An on-board computer (OBAS) serving as data center, managing data to and from the tag chain, other systems’ OBC and central traffic dispatching, and managing the driver console.
  • A driver console (DMI) with touch screen facility.
  • Optional: A central software RailTracker + ® (RT2) storing operational, commercial and technical data, providing on-line tools to manage the rolling stock fleet and statistics and performance indicators on many facets of railway operations.

W-SPOT: Remote monitoring outside operational control zone

W-SPOT® is an ultra-light satellite-based vehicle tracking system, ideal for remote monitoring of assets movements outside direct operational control zone (e.g. cross-border wagon tracking for corridor operations)

  • Independent from locomotive and from network owner.
  • Cloud-based information centre and/or local server.
W-Spot Future resources

Ultra-light satellite-based vehicle tracking system

Battery-powered satellite trackers installed on each wagon insure monitoring of “wagon interchange” with foreign networks (cross-border movements) and monitoring of “private” wagon fleet.

  • Battery-powered satellite tracker installed on each wagon interchanged with “foreign” network.
  • Ideal for cross-border movement monitoring of “private” wagon fleet.
  • Independent from locomotive and from network owner.
  • Seamless operation along rail corridors insured using more effective orbital satellite system (in comparison to traditional geo-stationary satellites offers).
  • Inscreased reliability and better telecom coverage than any multi-national GPRS (gsm) solution.
  • Easy cost control through well adapted data subscription scheme.
  • Direct agreement with satellite communication primary provider (no intermediate service provider).
  • Cloud-based information centre and/or local server.
  • Real-time wagon position sent as per customized transmission pattern:

  • - Every x hours (e.g. every 2 hours).
    - One position minimum 1 / day (even if not moving).
    - Every time a wagon stops for more than x minutes (e.g. more than 10 minutes).
  • User-friendly operator platform to access operational parameters (wagon id, position, speed, etc.); tracking data available to final user under tailor-made format on its own PC terminal (internet-based).
  • Customizable user interface backed by a secure and robust (banking sector approved) messaging software. (Xantus, www.xantus.com).

Specifications

  • IP68
  • Unit dimensions : 6.85 cm x 8.25cm x 2.54 cm.
  • Vandal-proof bracket fitted to wagon skeleton.
  • Regular AAA batteries (estimated replacement time : 6 to 12 months based on data subscription set up).
  • Friendly user interface (software).
  • Secured server hosting (e.g. outsourced).
  • Balise certification: ANATEL, CE Mark (EU), FCC CFR, COFETEL, etc.

Options

  • Solar tag : powered by solar panel (lifetime : 8 years) but higher risk of vandalism if the tracking device is positioned at eye-catching height (ideal for box wagons)
  • Additional sensors such as wagon derailment/flip over detection (vibrations).

RailTracker: real-time tracking system

RailTracker® (RT2) is RT+ is a railway information system that provides railway operators with reliable, useful and immediate data on trains, terminal and cargo operations. Collected data is used for proactive operations management (e.g. empty wagon distribution).

By improving day to day management and decision making, RT+ facilitates trade by reducing non-physical barriers and by increasing the actual carrying capacity of your transport corridor, thus improving its operational efficiency.

  • Regular statistics and performance indicators.
  • Provides data for macro-economic planning.

RailTracker: key support for consistent improvement of operational performance

Real case analysis over 6 years of RT+ implementation on a medium-size African railway reported significant reduction of average wagon turnaround time (18 to 13 days), average wagon detention time in terminals (8 to 4 days), average dwell time of foreign wagons (28 to 12 days), average daily interchange balance (203 to 108), as well as an increase of the average locomotive utilization (280 to 380 km/day) and average wagon utilization (73 to 120 km/day).
